Peachtree Corners Smart City to Launch AI-Powered Digital Twin

Peachtree Corners, one of the nation’s first smart cities announced a new partnership with BizzTech to create a digital twin of its downtown.

The platform will combine live sensor feeds, traffic analytics, weather data and AI to create a real-time interactive copy of the city’s downtown environment, with the goal of improving data-driven decision-making, public safety and urban planning efficiency.

The initiative will allow city officials to simulate incident response protocols, optimize traffic light timing and model future projects — such as autonomous vehicle corridors — before construction begins.

“Our collaboration with BizzTech brings us a level of real-time insight we simply couldn’t achieve with static planning tools,” said Brandon Branham, Peachtree Corners’ chief technology officer and assistant city manager in the announcement. “By overlaying these live data streams onto a photorealistic digital twin, we can test infrastructure development ideas, changes in urban mobility and even incident response protocols in minutes.”

“That means we can spot safety risks sooner, deploy resources faster and model incident response routes to keep our public safety teams safe.”

At the heart of BizzTech’s platform are AI-driven digital twins that use generative and agentic AI to autonomously adapt to different scenarios.

The system’s predictive analytics can alert city staff to potential issues such as traffic bottlenecks and safety hazards before they escalate, helping to lower maintenance costs and improve operational efficiency.

“BizzTech’s Urban Metaverse is purpose-built to take the guesswork out of city management,” said Dirk Schmidt, BizzTech’s CEO. “Our AI agents continuously learn from each simulation, recommending the most efficient traffic‑signal cycles and optimal locations for future public‑safety assets.”

“Together with Peachtree Corners, we’re turning predictive insights into day‑one cost savings, stronger public trust and a scalable blueprint for other cities to replicate.”

Peachtree said the initiative could serve as a blueprint for other municipalities looking to integrate smart city tech to improve operations.

Peachtree Corners, located in the metro-Atlanta region, has made waves in deploying innovative smart city tools to improve day-to-day operations. To date, the city has rolled out several smart tools including autonomous shuttle buses, 5G streetlights, lidar sensors to prevent accidents at intersections and connected road tech from industry majors including Bosch..
